The Beauty of Vigan City
The Philippines has many beautiful places to visit, and one of them is Vigan City in Ilocos Sur. It’s known for its old Spanish-style houses, stone streets, and horse-drawn carriages called kalesa. When you visit Vigan, it feels like you are walking back in time because of its old buildings and peaceful surroundings. The city is full of stories and memories from the past. That’s why it was named one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Vigan is a place that truly shows how rich our culture, tradition and history are as Filipinos.
When you walk along Calle Crisologo, you’ll see houses made of wood and
stone with big windows and lights that shine beautifully at night. The street looks like a scene from an old movie or an Spanish era, and it’s one of the most visited places in the city. Many tourists love taking pictures, buying souvenirs, and enjoying the quiet and clean environment. The sound of the kalesa passing by and the smell of local food in the air make the experience even more special. You can really feel that Vigan is a place that values its culture and keeps its traditions alive.
There are also many fun things to do in Vigan. You can visit the Hidden Garden, a peaceful and relaxing place filled with different kinds of plants and flowers. The garden has many spots where you can take pictures and enjoy the fresh air. It also has a small restaurant where you can taste Vigan dishes and refreshing drinks. Many visitors go there to unwind, eat, and enjoy nature. It’s a perfect place to rest after walking around the city. You can try making burnay jars in pottery shops where skilled workers use their hands to shape the clay.
Another great place to visit is the Vigan National Museum, where you can learn more about the history and culture of the city. Inside the museum, you can see old things like furniture, clothes, paintings, and pictures from the Spanish time. Visiting the museum helps people understand how important it is to protect our heritage and traditions. You can also visit the Vigan Cathedral, one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in the Philippines. At night, you can stop by Plaza Salcedo to watch the dancing fountain with colorful lights and music. Every part of Vigan has something nice to see, and every place has its own story to tell.
The people of Vigan are kind, friendly, and proud of their city. They always make visitors feel welcome. They take care of their surroundings and work together to keep their city clean and peaceful. During festivals, the streets are filled with colorful decorations, music, and dancing.
Vigan is also known for its local products. Many people make handwoven bags, burnay jars, keychains, Abel, and other souvenirs that visitors can buy. These small businesses help the locals earn money while keeping their traditional skills alive. This is one of the reasons why Vigan continues to grow and attract more visitors every year.
At night, Vigan becomes even more peaceful and beautiful. The streets are bright with yellow lights, and the kalesa rides continue to pass by. You can see families and friends walking together, enjoying the cool air and the calm surroundings.
Through this travel blog, I want to share how amazing Vigan City is. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s a place full of life, stories, and love for culture. Visiting Vigan makes you appreciate our history and be proud of being Filipino. Truly, “It’s More Fun sa Pamayanan!” Vigan shows that exploring our own country can be just as fun and meaningful as traveling abroad.
Your adventure looks unforgettable, thank you for sharing it!
