 President Elpidio Quirino stands as one of the most resilient and hardworking leaders in Philippine history. Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quirino grew up in a humble family and worked hard to pursue education. He studied at the University of the Philippines and later became a lawyer. His early experiences taught him the values of perseverance and dedication—traits that shaped his entire life as a public servant. Before becoming president, Quirino built an impressive political career. He served as a congressman, senator, and later Vice President under President Manuel Roxas. During this time, he focused on rebuilding the nation after World War II, helping restore institutions damaged by the war. As technology becomes a big part of everyday life, the risks that children face online also increase. This year’s celebration encourages everyone to take a stand and make sure that every child grows up in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and valued. The government has taken several steps to protect children against online abuse and exploitation. Laws like RA 11930 show that the Philippines is becoming more serious about stopping online sexual abuse and punishing those who take advantage of children.
