Insight on the 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration
The 2025 National Children’s Month theme, “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, is a strong reminder of how important it is to protect children in today’s digital world. As technology becomes a big part of everyday life, the risks that children face online also increase. This year’s celebration encourages everyone to take a stand and make sure that every child grows up in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and valued.
The government has taken several steps to protect children against online abuse and exploitation. Laws like RA 11930 show that the Philippines is becoming more serious about stopping online sexual abuse and punishing those who take advantage of children. Agencies such as DSWD, DICT, DepEd, and the PNP Women and Children Protection Center also work together to educate families, monitor online threats, and respond to cases that put children at risk. These combined efforts are signs that protecting children is a national priority.
Still, laws and government programs are only part of the solution. The fight against OSAEC and CSAEM also relies on parents, teachers, communities, and even young people themselves. Children need guidance on how to use the internet safely, and adults need to stay alert and informed. When everyone in the community works together, it creates a safer space where children can learn, play, and explore without fear.
This year’s National Children’s Month reminds us that protecting children is not just the government’s job, it’s everyone’s responsibility. By defending their rights, speaking up against abuse, and staying involved in their safety, we help build a future where every Filipino child can grow confidently and free from harm.
