President Elpidio Quirino

Image
President Elpidio Quirino stands as one of the most resilient and hardworking leaders in Philippine history. Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quirino grew up in a humble family and worked hard to pursue education. He studied at the University of the Philippines and later became a lawyer. His early experiences taught him the values of perseverance and dedication—traits that shaped his entire life as a public servant. Before becoming president, Quirino built an impressive political career. He served as a congressman, senator, and later Vice President under President Manuel Roxas. During this time, he focused on rebuilding the nation after World War II, helping restore institutions damaged by the war. When Roxas died in 1948, Quirino assumed the presidency and faced the challenge of leading a country still recovering from conflict and economic instability. As president, Elpidio Quirino made significant contributions to the country’s growth. He spearheaded economic pro...

Insight on the 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration The 2025 National Children’s Month theme, “OSAEC–CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, is a strong reminder of how important it is to protect children in today’s digital world. As technology becomes a big part of everyday life, the risks that children face online also increase. This year’s celebration encourages everyone to take a stand and make sure that every child grows up in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and valued. The government has taken several steps to protect children against online abuse and exploitation. Laws like RA 11930 show that the Philippines is becoming more serious about stopping online sexual abuse and punishing those who take advantage of children. Agencies such as DSWD, DICT, DepEd, and the PNP Women and Children Protection Center also work together to educate families, monitor online threats, and respond to cases that put children at risk. These combined effor...

The Beauty of Vigan City The Philippines has many beautiful places to visit, and one of them is Vigan City in Ilocos Sur. It’s known for its old Spanish-style houses, stone streets, and horse-drawn carriages called kalesa. When you visit Vigan, it feels like you are walking back in time because of its old buildings and peaceful surroundings. The city is full of stories and memories from the past. That’s why it was named one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Vigan is a place that truly shows how rich our culture, tradition and history are as Filipinos. When you walk along Calle Crisologo, you’ll see houses made of wood and stone with big windows and lights that shine beautifully at night. The street looks like a scene from an old movie or an Spanish era, and it’s one of the most visited places in the city. Many tourists love taking pictures, buying souvenirs, and enjoying the quiet and clean environment. The sound of the kalesa passing by and the smell of local food i...

2nd Quarter Reflection

2nd Quarter Reflection      This Second Quarter has been a very fun and interesting experience for me because I learned how to make a simple website using HTML , which means HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGRE  Before, I had no idea how web pages were created, but now I know that HTML is the basic code that builds them. I discovered different HTML tags such as <html> , <head> , <title> , <body> , <p> , <br> , and many more. Each tag has its own use, some are for adding text, others for pictures or links. I also learned how to add colors, background, and other features to make my page look nice. It was exciting to see my work come to life on the computer screen. I felt proud knowing that I could make something using just a few lines of code. This quarter helped me realize that coding is not as hard as it looks if you take time to practice and understand it. Even though it was exciting, I also faced several challenges while learning HT...

TEACHERS MONTH

My Teacher, My Hero October 9, 2025 Every October, we celebrate Teacher’s Month to show appreciation and love for our teachers who dedicate their lives in guiding us. The 2025 celebration with the theme “My Teacher, My Hero” reminds us that teachers are the real heroes of our time. They do not wear capes or have superpowers, but their strength comes from their patience, kindness, and endless dedication to their students. Every day, they wake up early to prepare lessons, manage classrooms, and make sure each student learns something valuable. They continue to do their best, even when faced with challenges, because they care deeply about our success. Teachers are more than just educators—they are mentors, friends, and second parents. They are always there to listen when we struggle, to encourage us when we feel lost, and to celebrate with us when we achieve something. They teach us not only subjects like math, English, or science, but also life lessons that we will carry forever...

Climate Change and the Resiliency of Filipinos

Climate Change and the Resiliency of Filipinos September 18, 2025 The Philippines is increasingly beset by environmental changes that both strike suddenly and creep gradually. Sudden disasters like typhoons, flash floods, and storm surges continue to displace communities, damage infrastructure, and disrupt basic services. Meanwhile, progressive phenomena—sea level rise, shifting rainfall patterns, rising average temperatures, saltwater intrusion, and degraded ecosystems—are undermining livelihoods, food security, and health over the long term. For many Filipinos, these changes are not in the future; they are already shaping daily life. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One major driver is extreme weather becoming more intense and frequent. The Philippines is regularly hit by around 20 typhoons a year, and in recent decades, there has been a noticeable increase in the severity of damage especially t...
